A Climate Emergency

Worldwide, increasing carbon emissions have started to affect the earth`s climate.  The impacts of our changing climate are already causing serious loss of life, destroying vital ecosystems and infrastructure that we rely upon.

In Australia, we have recently witnessed catastrophic bushfires, the death of millions of animals, unprecedented droughts and floods and severe bleaching events of the Great Barrier Reef.

We are facing a climate emergency and the effects are being seen now in Australia and around the world.

It was with urgent concern to do something about this climate emergency that a group of City of Melville residents (located in Perth, Western Australia) formed the Melville City Climate Action Network (MCCAN).

MCCAN have recently endorsed the Australian Climate Dividend  proposed by the Citizens' Climate Lobby (Australia). This plan is based on research done by the University of New South Wales.
