September: Saul Griffiths Book Launch of his latest book Plug In! An Electrification Handbook. Held at Tompkins Park venue with Geraldine Mellet, an ex ABC reporter doing an interview with Saul. This was very successful and nearly sold out.

Articles about Electrification were published in The Herald and Have a Go Newspapers

Created new electrification information brochures for our information events covering 9 topics including solar panels and batteries, heat pumps, reverse cycle air conditioners, induction cooktops, electric vehicles, information for renters, how to develop a sustainable house. These brochures are used in all of our community engagement activities.

Sold a number of portable induction cooktops at several of the community events.

Linking with other community groups - Became a member of Electrify WA and we attend their monthly meetings.

We have contact with other Electrify groups in WA and share information and resources

We have regular contact and online meetings with Rewire Australia

We assisted the local community group ‘Save Our Space’ to get CoM Council to build a green space on the Esplanade at Canning Bridge. Work on this is starting soon.

2024 Community Events

Two-hour seminar with guest speaker Prof Peter Newman and other MCCAN speakers at the AH Bracks Library. This event was fully booked.

Information sessions about electrification in homes and businesses at:
➢ Repair Lab (EcoHub)
➢ The EcoHub Expo
➢ Jacaranda Festival

‘Electrify Melville City’ video, showing how we have electrified different aspects of our homes and transport.

Prepared submission to the Council, giving input into their Community Climate Action Plan.

Met with the City’s Climate Action Sustainability Team to give further input.

After the Community Climate Action Plan was endorsed by Council, we attended the launch of the Plan.

Built a close working relationship with CoM EcoHub staff, who are responsible for activating the Community Climate Action Plan. They now have a reference group established to help them. ​
